Installation: Installing our weed mats is straightforward:

1. Prepare the Ground: Clear the area of all existing weeds, rocks, and debris. Ensure the surface is as smooth and level as possible.
2. Measure and Cut: Measure the area and cut the weed mat to size. Overlap sheets by 5-10 inches to prevent weeds from growing through gaps.
3. Secure the Fabric: Use landscape staples or garden pegs to secure the mat to the ground, ensuring it lies flat with no ripples.
4. Cut for Plants (if applicable): If planting, cut X-shaped slits in the fabric, making them slightly larger than the plant's root ball. Fold back the flaps, plant, and then lay the flaps back around the base of the plant.
5. Cover with Mulch or Gravel (Optional but Recommended): Covering our weed mat with a layer of mulch, gravel, or other ground cover protects it from UV degradation and adds to the aesthetic appeal. This also further helps block light.

Often, our weed mats are used in conjunction with a layer of mulch on top. The weed mat provides the initial, strong barrier, and the mulch adds an aesthetic layer, further suppresses weeds, helps anchor the mat, and provides additional benefits like moisture retention and nutrient addition (with organic mulches).
